I have been teaching in K-12 schools at the community college and the university level for over 20 years. Student engagement and long term retention of knowledge are the primary driving forces behind all my curriculum and pedagogical practices whether I am teaching at the elementary school preparation level or providing pedagogical instruction to university faculty. The How People Learn framework provides the foundation for my instruction. In addition, I genuinely care about my students, providing them with instructional support, relevancy in the subject content, engaging lectures, collaborative activities, and authentic experiences in the biological sciences including public presentations, peer evaluations, critical thinking, and laboratory investigations with rigorous expectations. My students enjoy my classes and learn so much – as I do from them. I LOVE TO TEACH. It is and has been my life-long passion.
